WHY IS USING A REPS REGISTERED TRAINER IMPORTANT?
REPs registered trainers hold qualifications mapped to New Zealand and international standards. They must also upskill each year which ensures you are provided with the most up to date tools, research and knowledge. REPs registered trainers are bound to a code of ethics, giving you protection when using them, and furthermore have appropriate insurance and must hold current first aid certification for your safety and peace of mind.
In New Zealand there are no laws setting minimum standards for a personal trainer so anyone can call themselves a trainer, with or without appropriate qualifications. Ensure you're receiving the right advice, professionalism and highly qualified trainer you deserve by going with a REPs registered trainer, such as Robert Smith.
WHAT EXACTLY DOES A RST PERSONAL TRAINER DO?
At RST, our personal trainer offers one on one teachings that maximise time and value, really helping you to get where you want to be faster, safer and by providing you with education that will last a lifetime.
It is our job to teach and motivate you towards your goals and take a holistic approach with physical training, education, nutrition support, habit support, technique coaching and accountability. We will evaluate your current physical wellbeing and mindset towards health and exercise in our consultation and using various tests. After our initial evaluation we will create a customised program based on your specific goals and work around your lifestyle needs, get you set up on our app and start a full well-rounded support system to get you to those goals with sustainable changes. During regular sessions we will coach you through your plan and provide periodic re-testing to ensure we are on track.
WHERE CAN I HAVE MY PERSONAL TRAINING SESSIONS?
Robert Smith Training has a home studio located in Karaka Lakes, South Auckland, just a minute from the Papakura motorway ramp. The facility contains all equipment required for any style of workout that will help you achieve your goals. Alternatively, we do also offer an extremely effective online program that can be delivered virtually.

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM A REGULAR TRAINER AT A GYM?
When it comes to value for money and ensuring you're getting the absolute best out of your trainer, you just cannot beat one on one or duo training sessions. When training in a regular gym it can get overcrowded and queues start forming for certain machines. This can mean constantly changing up the sessions plan, getting distracted by others and feeling self-conscious. However, at Robert Smith Training you will have the full focus of your trainer, access to the full range of equipment and a private space that isn't filled with gym-goers. There are so many other benefits such as our app that puts you in constant direct access with your trainer, extensive testing, nutrition support, habit tracking tools, technique focus, control over the music, individually tailored training programs for outside of sessions also and achievement awards.
DO YOU HAVE ANY GROUP CLASSES I CAN JOIN?
Absolutely! From March onwards we are running our Semi-Private Personal Training Sessions. Please get in touch here to grab more details on session days/times.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANY EQUIPMENT?
Robert Smith Training will provide all equipment needed, including Heart Rate monitors. However, if you do have fitness equipment at home and you would like to be shown how to use this correctly, some effective exercises or to incorporate into your program, we can certainly help with that also.
Please do however bring a water bottle, suitable workout clothing/footwear and a sweat towel to your sessions.
I HAVE A PAST INJURY, CAN I STILL TRAIN?
Yes, providing medical clearance from a relevant health professional, you are still able to train. Please advise us of all past and present injuries at the consultation so we can work with you to provide a rehabilitation plan and adapt any exercises needed. We can then focus on strengthening weaker areas and learning the correct techniques to provide safe recovery and minimise injury risk in future. If your injury is current, please ensure you have consulted with a healthcare professional before under-going physical exercise.
CAN I JUST EXERCISE TO GET MY IDEAL BODY?
Exercise alone is not the answer.
You need a complete solution, something that takes into consideration exercise, nutrition, education, motivation and professional support. At RST we combine these to provide a comprehensive solution to assist you in reaching your goals.
To achieve specific body goals such as 'fat loss' and 'lean muscle gain' for example, nutrition is key. Incorporating a balanced diet with steady exercise will provide you with the highest chance of succeeding at your goals. At RST we have a client app that provides not only the fully customised training programs, but it also has nutrition support from calorie calculators/trackers, sample meal plans, easy food tracking/photo logging your trainer can review, connectivity with MyFitnessPal and recipe ideas and ebooks that you are able to utilise if you so desire.
I'M NEW TO EXERCISE OR PERSONAL TRAINING. WILL ROBERT SMITH TRAINING BE SUITABLE?
Here at Robert Smith Training we cater to all fitness levels, experience and people of all motivations. As qualified and experienced personal trainers, we have the knowledge to tailor design our programs for new starters in exercise to advanced fitness clients. We've had it all from professional athletes to wonderful people who have never touched a piece of fitness equipment in their lives. We've had the young, the old but young at heart, and all of the in-between. This is all done in a motivating environment where ensuring your comfort and acknowledging achievements remain top priority.
HOW DOES PAYMENT WITH ROBERT SMITH TRAINING WORK?
Payment processing is automated through our booking system to reduce the administration time for Robert Smith Training. This allows us to spend our time and focus on what’s really important, providing you with the best service and getting you results!

Memberships are paid weekly, in advance, by direct debit using either a nominated bank account or credit card.

Robert Smith Training will cover the direct debit sign up and transaction fees.

An automatic reminder message will be sent to you at least 24 hrs before payment will be taken.

In the case of a failed payment there is a failed payment fee of $9.90 that will be deducted. The failed payment will be automatically re-tried within 3 business days.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
We are extremely committed to getting you the results you want, and understand that your desire to improve is important to you, therefore, we have implemented a strict cancellation policy. This policy will help keep you committed and on track for your goals, while also protecting our peak operating times and giving other clients working towards their goals the opportunity to train in your time if you are unable to.

A ‘No-Show’ or ‘Late Cancellation’ within 24 hours of your scheduled session will result in a loss of your session token. We may use this session time to further develop your training program, check-in with your progress on the app or complete other tasks associated with supporting your goals.

An ‘Early Cancellation’ with notice of over 24 hours prior to your scheduled session will result in your session token being added to your account to be scheduled as a ‘Makeup Session’ to be used within 6 months as per reschedule policy.
